Agriculture is an economic engine in Greene County producing $200,000,000 from a variety of commodities.  The county consists of 172,160 acres with 80,000 acres under cultivation.  The major row crops are:  Tobacco, soybeans, cotton, corn, wheat, sweet potatoes, peanuts.

Greene County has a vital livestock industry of hogs, broilers, turkey, beef, sheep and goat.  The county is also experiencing growth is value added and specialty products:  strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, natural beef, free range chickens, fresh produce, prawns, and ice cream.
